PG DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE & APPLICATIONS


The Department of Computer Applications has been instantiated during the academic year 2007-2008 with the permission of AICTE and Acharya Nagarjuna University.The affiliation changed to Krishna University during 2010-11. The Department is offering Postgraduate Course in MCA with an approved intake of 60 by AICTE. The Department is operating on the clear recognition that computer science fundamentals must play a critical role in many emerging technologies, not to mention that Software Knowledge continue to be the key in the IT industry in general. This operating philosophy drives our approach to teaching. Department is providing qualitative learning environment to student community enabling them to buildup willingness to learn and work. The Department periodically organizes Seminars, Guest Lectures, Workshops and other such Productive activities voluntarily for the benefit of the students. Department is striving hard and marching forward with systematically designed and executed objectives and goals in line with the Vision and Mission of the College The Department provides state of the art computing facilities to the students. It has an ideal environment with spacious lecture halls, seminar halls, computer lab and library- all fully furnished and equipped. The library has a collection of 1000+ volumes, 14 International journals and 17 National journals and Magazines exclusively for the computer course. The Department has well qualified and experienced faculty. The staff members are deputed to participate in workshops, conferences, symposia and refresher courses to keep in pace with recent developments in the field of Information Technology.

MISSION

  • To offer a high-quality education in the science of computing, as well as to produce graduates that are knowledgeable, articulate, principled, innovative, confident, and able to think critically.
  • To prepare computing graduates who are highly sought after, productive and well- respected for their work, and who contribute to new developments in computing technology.
  • Provide appropriate foundation in computing for their education, research and experiences after graduation, consistent with computing’s increasingly fundamental role in the society.
  • Engages in outreach activities that promote a spirit of cooperation between college and community

GOALS

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the evolving computer science landscape.
  • Develop faculty expertise in emerging areas of the computing sciences, such as cloud computing or mobile computing, and encourage interdisciplinary scholarship by students and faculty.
  • Support and encourage faculty participation at conferences and meetings to facilitate scholarly productivity and professional development
  • Provide more opportunities for faculty, students and alumni to interact and network together in informal settings.

OBJECTIVES

    The core objectives of the deparment are to ensure that the students will be prepared
  • To be able to work in groups and appreciate the dynamic and collaborative nature of problem solving;
  • To be equipped with a thorough understanding of the development process of software including design, implementation, documentation, and testing
  • To successfully apply the fundamentals of computer science to solve software-oriented computing problems
  • To have extended their knowledge by independent learning and continuing education
  • To appreciate the role of computer science in the societal context and appreciate the importance of ethics in the practice of the profession
