Botany is one of the constitutent departments of the college in 1965.Late K R V Subramanyam was the founder head.Sri T Satyanarayana(1988-90),Sri P Venkateswarlu(1990-2001),Sri G V Subbaiaha(2001-04),Dr S Sasikala(2004-07),Sri S Samabamurthy(2007-10),Smt R Lakshmi kanthamma(2010-12) are the succeding heads of the department.Now the department is headed by Ms Ch Radhika.The other member of the department is Dr. G Ramesh

The built–up area of the department is 391 sft including laboratories. Several laboratory equipments were procured under UGC grants released from different plan budgets. The management provided with necessary funding to purchase latest equipment as and when required. From the initiation of the department, Botany Museum with well-organized specimens is existing.

• To apply conventional and non-conventional tools to understand plant process.
• To develop human resource with expertise in frontier areas of plant sciences.
• To involve students to participate in Eco-Natural club
• Eminent Subject experts are invited for talks to update the students and faculty with the recent developments in the subjects

B.Sc with MBBC & BBC groups are winded in 2009 & 2010 due to lack of demand, as they are Self Finance Courses.
