Debating & Quiz Club
Purpose of the club: A Challenging Platform for Budding Intellectuals:Pragna, the Debating & Quiz Club of our college, is a wonderful platform to the intellectually ambitious undergraduates of all streams. It was established in the year 1975 with a purpose of producing outstanding personalities to the society. Accordingly, it encourages the young generation to inculcate quest for knowledge, critical thinking skills, logical and analytical skills. It is an opportunity to the young minds to respond on various socio, scientific, economic and political or any other issues of contemporary relevance to voice their views. During this journey, the students would thoroughly gear up themselves in meeting, visiting and applaud other creative and young talents at various avenues reaching from one horizon to the other.
Objectives of the Club:- To collaborate grooming of the personality development and communicative abilities of the students.
- To provide opportunities for students enhancing presentation skills in sharing ideas.
- To create learning ambience in which students develop proficiency in communication.
- To provide judges who will make judgements based on the social objectives and offer a critique which help students to groom their critical, analytical and logical thinking.
Silver rolling shields for prize winners of PRAGNA
It is a regular academic feature. The principal of the college constitutes a committee to organise the club along with able teaching staff in every academic year. A member from the committee act as convenor. This committee tests the competence levels of the students in speaking, writing and ignite their brains by conducting competitions in Elocution & Essay Writing both in Telugu and English and general quiz in English. The winners of these competitions are declared as the student members of the internal committee. The selected students represent the college by participating in various competitions organised by other colleges which are affiliated to Krishna University, Acharya Nagarjuna University and other organisations around the state throughout the year.
Achievements:It is a pleasure to share that the selected students are blessed with commendable competence to present their ideas in an impressive manner which enable them to bag prizes and bring laurels to the college every year.
Advantages:Pragna plays a significant role in curving the abilities of the students to be competent at various platforms. The students are privileged to be a member of the club as they learn to overcome the language barriers and turn as a good communicator. They meet many meritorious participants, develop competitive spirit, leading a team, balance both negative and positive comments and enhance a quality of sharing in presenting their ideas and experiences impressively. All these help the students to update their standards to be high hand in everything they attempt.
State Level Inter Collegiate Competition:PRAGNA takes pride in organising a mega event at state level. Over decades it has been conducting competitions in Debating and Essay Writing both in Telugu and English, general quiz in English. An eminent personality is invited as chief guest on the occasion. There is a good participation of students from all over the state. At this juncture, it is noteworthy to state that it’s a credit of college management in organising this event enthusiastically ever since its establishment in 1975. Many of the first generation people who were very benevolent have instituted trophies, rolling cups, shields, Gold and Silver medals, in memory of their beloved ones. It’s a challenge to offer a free registration to all the participants. Pragna takes the hands of the departments of Telugu & English to decide the current topics for Debate & Essay Writing Competitions. Pragna invites the experts from the reputed colleges to act as external judges for Debate and Essay Writing Competitions. Eventually, their impartial verdict honours the merit. Quiz Competition is organized in an exciting way with various rounds. Quiz master declares the deserving team. All the winners will be honoured with a token of appreciation by the cups, trophies and medals in the valedictory.
